BUDDHACITY

Tian Tan Buddha, also known as the Big Buddha, is a large bronze statue of a Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and religion. I was there, photographed it and put it against an Amsterdam backdrop, using the colors of stone, metal, trees and the sun...from stone and bronze in the city streets to light and treebranches, harmony between man and nature.

"The world's a piece of art", that's how Jan Paul Heijmans, Marketing and Multimedia graduate, perceives it. He grew up on St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, studied in the Netherlands
and lived in Barcelona for a year. He now lives in Amsterdam and travels around the world with his camera. His art is based on photo illustration, often bringing together different worlds.
